Test-a-Relay was established in 1984 with the objective of providing specialist Medium and High Voltage protection, control and metering testing services for new as well as existing electrical reticulation systems. Vast experience has shown that even with a perfect design, an external commissioning service is still required to ensure that all aspects of the equipment meet the required standards. It was because of this need that the organisation established itself in the Electrical Engineering industry, offering its services to Municipal, Government, Mining and Industrial industries. Test-A-Relay has worked on systems throughout Africa ranging from 400kV down to 380Volts, as well as numerous DC distribution projects and Renewable energy projects. As the Test-A-Relay brand grew through quality and reliable service offerings, clients started to request more services and has resulted in Test-A-Relay adding complementary services to its service offering.

A. The contractor seldom has the necessary knowledge, expertise or equipment to do the test work in such a manner as to ensure that there is no possibility of error.

B. The contractor seldom allows an adequate sum for detailed testing and therefore tends to minimise the amount of testing to reduce his costs. It is equivalent to having the quality control of a project fall under the production manager instead of having an independent quality control department responsible to top-level management only.

C. The independent authority has a reputation to maintain so that it is not prepared to take any chances or leave any stones unturned.

All our staff are exposed to thorough practical education where they are educated onsite under practical circumstances in multiple different environments, ranging from large scale industry to mining to infrastructure giving them experience across the board. Our reputation with our clients has maintained year on year by ensuring that we are there to assist our clients in a time of need and when our services are most critically required. In addition to this, our directors have 150 years + experience to accompany our service offerings. This allows for effective solutions to be provided as well as ensuring compliant, quality and functional equipment and networks.

We partnered with the “Rise Against Hunger Foundation” whereby we packaged over 5000 meals for those in need. What an amazing experience this was, we look forward to giving back again in the next year to come.

BROAD BASED BLACK ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Test-A-Relay is a proud supporter of the BBBEE initiative. We truly believe that inclusive growth is the way forward for South Africa and aim to use our name and skillset to the best of our ability in order to benefit the BBBEE system.

Test-A-Relay is currently a Level 3 BBBEE contributor, with an overall black female ownership of 31%. We are constantly working on new programs to benefit the BBBEE systems and one of our newly developed programs soon to be launched is a Skills development Program whereby we aim to use the experience and knowledge of our senior staff to train and develop those from a less fortunate background, thus creating up opportunities for these individuals in the Electrical Engineering industry.
